What Is the SDUWHV?

The SDUWHV is an official support letter issued by the Indonesian government. It's a mandatory requirement for Indonesian nationals applying for the Australian Working Holiday Visa (Subclass 462).

It exists because Australia and Indonesia have a bilateral agreement that governs the Working Holiday program. Indonesia manages participation through this quota-based letter system — meaning there are only a limited number of letters issued each year.

Why Does It Matter So Much?

Here's the part that surprises most people: the SDUWHV quota is limited and opens at a specific time each year. Once the quota is exhausted, no more letters are issued until the following year.

This means:

• If you miss the quota window, you cannot apply for the WHV until the next year
• You can have all your other documents ready — English test, funds, medical — and still be unable to lodge
